Surface Applications

One surface.
Every room it touches.

Sintered stone's non-porous, UV-stable surface makes it the most versatile countertop material across every indoor and outdoor space. The same slab that goes into a kitchen performs just as well in a master bathroom, a laundry room, a home bar, a seamless shower wall, or an outdoor kitchen — resistant to sun, heat, and weather in ways no engineered stone can match — with the same factory-direct pricing and same-week availability across all five standard sizes.

All 5 Sizes 🍳

Kitchen Countertop

The primary use case — non-porous means spills, oils, and food acids never absorb. Zero maintenance, consistent color at every seam, same-week pickup.

26" · 36" · 52" 🛁

Bathroom Vanity

Single and double vanity tops, bathroom ledges, and tub surrounds. Non-porous resists moisture and beauty products without sealing. The 52" covers the most generous double vanity in one seamless piece.

26" · 36" 🧪

Laundry Room

A full-length folding surface above front-load washers and dryers. Handles detergent spills and moisture without staining — and transforms the most functional room in the house.

36" · 42" · 52" 🍸

Home Bar (Indoor)

A 52"×110" bar top seats five to six guests. Non-porous handles wine, spirits, and citrus without etching or staining — unlike natural stone. Same factory-direct slab.

26" · 36" · 52" 🚿

Shower Walls & Tub Deck

Large-format panels eliminate grout lines — a seamless, moisture-resistant surface dramatically easier to clean than tile. One slab per wall. No joints for water or mold to penetrate.

36" · 42" · 52" 🪑

Dining & Coffee Tables

A 36"×110" slab becomes a dramatic 10-person dining table surface. Consistent color and pattern make engineered stone ideal for furniture where visual uniformity matters.

26" · 36" 💻

Home Office Surface

A built-in desk that is scratch-resistant, easy to clean, and more durable than wood or laminate alternatives — at the same factory-direct price as a kitchen countertop.

Full Countertop FAQ →
What is sintered stone?
Sintered stone is manufactured by compressing and firing natural raw minerals — feldspar, and clay — under extreme heat and pressure exceeding 1,200°C. The process produces a fully inorganic slab with no polymer resin, no binders, and no organic content of any kind. This is the key distinction from engineered stone: engineered stone contains 7–10% polymer resin, which limits its heat tolerance and makes it UV-sensitive outdoors. Sintered stone contains none — the result is a surface that handles direct heat, outdoor UV exposure, and freeze-thaw cycles that no other countertop material can match.
How is sintered stone different from engineered stone?
Both are non-porous and never require sealing. The differences are in composition and performance limits. Engineered stone contains polymer resin — it cannot tolerate direct heat above approximately 150°F and degrades under UV exposure, making it an indoor-only material. Sintered stone contains no resin — it is fully heat-proof, UV-stable, and rated for outdoor use. If your project involves outdoor surfaces, direct cooking heat, or demanding environments, sintered stone is the correct choice.
Does sintered stone need to be sealed?
Never. Sintered stone is fully non-porous — liquids, oils, acids, and bacteria have nothing to penetrate. No sealing is required at installation or at any point during the life of the surface. This is shared with engineered stone, but not with granite (annual sealing), quartzite (periodic sealing), or marble (frequent sealing). For any application where zero maintenance is the priority, sintered stone’s maintenance profile is unmatched.
Can sintered stone handle direct heat from pots and pans?
Yes — sintered stone is genuinely heat-proof. Because it contains no polymer resin, hot pots, pans, and baking sheets placed directly on the surface will not damage it. This is one of sintered stone’s most significant practical advantages over engineered stone, which requires trivets to prevent thermal damage. That said, like all stone surfaces, extreme thermal shock — placing a frozen pan onto a very hot surface — is not recommended with any material.
Can sintered stone be used outdoors?
Yes — sintered stone is one of the only countertop materials rated for true outdoor use. Because it contains no resin or organic binders, it does not fade, discolor, or structurally degrade under UV exposure. It also withstands freeze-thaw cycling without cracking. This makes it suitable for outdoor kitchens, alfresco bars, covered patios, and pool surrounds. If any surface in your project is outdoors or exposed to direct sun, sintered stone should be your first consideration.
Is sintered stone scratch resistant?
Sintered stone ranks among the hardest countertop surfaces available. In everyday kitchen use, knives, utensils, and cookware will not scratch it under normal contact. Like any stone surface, it is highly scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. Use cutting boards as standard practice — not because sintered stone requires the protection, but because cutting boards protect your knives. Scratch resistance comparison: sintered stone is generally superior to engineered stone and at least equal to quartzite.
What spaces is sintered stone appropriate for?
The same slab that goes into a kitchen works equally well in a master bathroom, laundry room, indoor home bar, seamless shower wall, or outdoor kitchen — with identical performance in every environment. Thinner panels (6mm) are used for shower wall cladding, backsplashes, and feature walls. Full-thickness slabs (12–20mm) handle countertop, island, and outdoor surface applications. Visit our showroom to discuss which thickness fits your specific project.
How does sintered stone compare to porcelain slabs?
Both are ceramic-based and fired at high temperatures. Sintered stone is manufactured at significantly higher compaction pressure, producing a denser, harder slab better suited to countertop and worksurface applications where porcelain slabs can be more fragile during cutting and edge-finishing. Large-format porcelain panels are commonly used for floors and walls; sintered stone is the preferred specification for horizontal worksurfaces and outdoor cooking areas where edge durability matters.
What sintered stone brands does Apex carry?
Apex Home Outlet carries sintered stone from Dekton (by Cosentino), Neolith, Laminam, Lapitec, and Royal Sintered Stone. Each brand has a distinct raw material blend, aesthetic range, and thickness lineup — from 6mm wall panels to 20mm countertop slabs. Call ahead to confirm which brands and designs are available at your nearest location before visiting.
Do you offer contractor or trade pricing on sintered stone?
Yes — Apex has a dedicated contractor trade program. Volume pricing, net 30 terms for qualified accounts, priority inventory access, and free 3D design for every client project. We supply materials only and never compete with your installation business. Sintered stone is increasingly specified on higher-end residential and commercial projects — outdoor kitchens, restaurant surfaces, hotel lobbies.
